Disagrees with Loeb strategy
Shelley Bordin
We, as employees of Larry and Judy Cairns, are not in agreement with the proposed strategy of Loeb.
By replacing Mr. and Mrs. Cairns with a store manager we feel business would decrease drastically. They have proven themselves time after time in this community with their involvement in fund-raising and community service.
They have contributed greatly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Cancer Society and countless other associations.
When times got tough for the employees of Algoma Steel Corporation, which is our city’s major employment source, Larry and Judy were there to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Will the “store manager” contribute as much to Christmas Cheer and the Soup Kitchen as Larry and Judy have over the last seven years?
People in this community appreciate a friendly face and a helping hand when necessary, which is what they see when they walk into our store.
We, as employees, are happy with the way things are.
Will our customers be happier when there are no service clerks to help them with their groceries? If we lose our service clerks business will drop dramatically. Without business we join the ranks of the unemployed.
How can this proposal possible save our jobs and, more importantly, benefit our community and the people who live here?
