Dear Mr. Stewart,

Thank you for keeping me up to date on the situation involving Country Style Donut franchises by copying me on various e-mail between you and interested parties.

I have contacted the Ministry of Consumer and Business Services about the closing of these franchises. I have been told that this is a legal matter and is before the courts.

Apparently, the company is seeking court protection under a federal statute and are looking at viable options for restructuring their businesses.

As such, it does not involve the province’s franchise law.

I am sorry that I could not provide more assistance with this matter but I urge you to keep me updated on the progress of your efforts on behalf of my constituents affected by these closures.

Thank you for your work on this matter and please accept my best wishes.

Sincerely,

Jim Wilson, MPP
